Step 1 on How to Catch Fish
Hello Everyone,
I have been fishing both professionally and recreationaly for 20 years it is my most passionate hobby. Today I wanted to share one of the tactics that I use to catch more fish, bigger fish, and more often.
First off you need to think about what time of year it is and what your target species of fish is doing during this time. For example if I was fishing for walleye in the spring I would want to think about if they are currently in a pre-spawn, spawn, or post spawn stage. This always varies from year to year to the exact time at which this takes place. The number one influential factor is water temperature. These changes in water temperature have been what the fish have been following for centuries and will continue to do so. Through spending time on the water and keeping track of where you are catching fish, when you are catching fish, and what the water the water temperature is you will quickly be able to tell at which stage the fish is in. There is another way to tell what the fish are doing and that is calling the local bait stores and they will be able to tell you what reports they have been getting, but I would suggest to call more then one so that you may be able to get more information and validate the reports.
OK now down to the reason we discussed all that is because it is very important to know what the fish are doing because in order to use this tip you need to know at what depth the fish are. Even knowing all that you will need to experiment a little.
Lindy Rig
How to Catch More Fish
Sorry about the quality of pictures these are the best pictures that I could find. The top one is what is called a Lindy rig, I use this one but i put a twist to it. Instead of using a normal hook I used a floating jig head like the second picture. Now the one thing that you need to know and that is why we talked about all that is because you will need to adjust your leader, that is the length of line that will be between your swivel and your floating jig head, to the desired depth at which the fish are at. Now your chosen bait will be right in front of their face when they are feeding that is why this rig will defiantly catch you more fish. This is the most versatile rig I have ever used you can use it in lakes, rivers, and streams for any type of game fish as well you can use any type of bait from plastics to live bait there really is no end to that applications you can achieve with this rig. That's it for this tip good luck and happy fishing.
